It has 30 miles of coastline with 50 beaches and is home to the some of the UK's cleanest and most beautiful beaches. It is also a favoured destination for surfers from around the UK. The Gower was the first location in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956. Swansea is home to the very successful Swans (Football) and Ospreys (Rugby) clubs who share a new purpose built arena called the Liberty Stadium. The Maritime Marina and Quarter is widely regarded as being world class, with breath taking views available from the many restaurants, bars, ice cream parlours and art galleries.
The area has the famed Mumbles Mile, well used for Stag and Hen parties. Swansea is the birthplace of both actress Catherine Zeta Jones and poet Dylan Thomas. Not to mention Hollywood megastars Richard Burton and Anthony Thomas only a stones throw away. Just a 30 minute drive would bring you to the National Botanic Garden of Wales with its 2 huge green houses and over 8,000 different plant varieties. Swansea has the largest covered market in Wales and was recently named in the top ten growing cities in the UK.
The main areas of Swansea are Morriston, Sketty, the city centre itself, then Uplands, Goreinon and Gowerton.
